FAA Level 3 Award (QCF) in Paediatric First Aid has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for the welfare of children and infants under their care.

It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who wish to gain a nationally accredited Level 3 Award. This two-day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted. In order to obtain this qualification, you must attend both days and complete the two units of accreditation.

DURATION

The FAA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid course is spread over 2 days, ideally consecutively, with a minimum of 12 hours classroom contact time to complete the 2 units, consisting of both theoretical and practical work.

A range of subjects relating to Paediatric First Aid is covered including:

  • Responsibilities of the First Aider and Reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Faintingbaby first aid picture

  • Disorders of Respiration and Airway Obstruction
  • Choking
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Recognition and treatment of Head injuries
  • Diabetes
  • Fractures and joint injuries
  • Muscle injuries
  • Bites and Stings
  • Poisons
  • Foreign bodies
  • Meningitis
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Asthma
  • Thermal injuries (heat and cold)
  • Sickle Cell Anaemia

Assessment and certification

Practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor throughout the 2 days, whilst the student’s underpinning knowledge will be assessed using a multiple choice question paper. Students who successfully meet the assessment criteria will be issued with a FAA Level 3 certificate valid for 3 years. No external assessor is required for this course.

NUMBERS

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated at any one time on this course. All students must be aged 16 years or over to qualify for this award.

We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises, reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling, or at a venue convenient to you.
