Infection Control Awareness – Overview
The Infection Control Awareness course is designed for all staff who may be involved in Infection Control during the course of their duties. It has been prepared to ensure that staff are fully up to date with regard to their Infection Control responsibilities.
It will also strengthen students ability to protect themselves, their clients and members of the surrounding community from infections.
Infection Control Awareness is a 1/2 day course with a minimum contact time of 3 classroom hours.
Areas covered include:
- Hand washing and Gloving
- Disease transmission
- Use and disposal of needles and other sharps
- Waste disposal
Assessment and Certification
Assessment is via a question paper at the end of the session. Candidates who successfully complete the question paper will be issued with a Certificate of Infection Control Awareness. The certificate has no expiry date, but it is recommended that candidates repeat the course annually in order to stay up to date.
A maximum of 10 students can be accomodated on the Infection Control Awareness course at any one time.
