Food Hygiene Awareness – Overview
The Food Hygiene Awareness course is designed to ensure that all staff who handle food are fully up to date with regard to the organisation’s and their own food hygiene responsibilities.
This course will enable learners to prepare food safely and maintain correct food hygiene practices at home and at work. It is designed to introduce the candidate to the arena of food hygiene.
Candidates often choose to complete this course prior to enrolling on one of our other 2 courses, the FAA Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, or FAA Level 2 Award in Good Nutrition.
Candidates who complete this course first can claim a 10% discount on either of the Level 2 Awards, if completed within 1 year of the date on their certificate. Original certificates must be produced to claim the discount.
Food Hygiene Awareness is a 1 day course with a minimum contact time of 6 classroom hours.
Subjects covered include:
- Causes of food poisoning
- Recognition of food poisoning symptoms
- Demonstrating good personal hygiene
- Promoting correct food handling and preparation at work
Assessment and Certification
Assessment is ongoing throughout the course. Candidates who successfully complete the course will be issued with a Certificate of Food Hygiene Awareness.
A maximum of 12 people can be accommodated on this course at any one time.
