FAA Level 3 Award (QCF) in First Aid at Work requalification courses are run over 2 days, they are designed to enable existing First Aiders to extend their First Aid at Work qualification for a further 3 years. they must be taken within 28 days of the expiry date of the existing qualification,  but can be taken up three months before the expiry date.

The requalification course is fully accredited and covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies,  that will equip the First Aider not only with the knowledge and skills to deal with emergencies in a prompt and safe way, but also with confidence. The course will also update the First Aider on any protocol changes that may have arisen since their last training course.




A minimum of 12 hours contact time is spread over 2 days, ideally consecutively.  The requalification course is designed to be delivered in a timely manner, although the course is flexible and can be completed in 2 separate days over a 6 week period.


Requalification subjects covered include:


  • Responsibilities of a First Aider, reporting and legal issues
  • Assessment of the scene and the situation
  • Shock
  • Immediate Management of Anaphylaxisrescue breaths
  • Choking (adults and children/babies)
  • Wounds and controlling bleeding
  • Eye injuries
  • Head injuries (minor and major)
  • Chest injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Burns
  • Poisoning
  • Dealing with unresponsive casualties
  • Recovery (safe airway) position
  • Resuscitation
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • Heart attack and Angina
  • Asthma
  • Stroke
  • Bandaging and dressings


Assessment and Certification

Successful completion of this course is based on practical assessments that are conducted by the instructor throughout and daily written test papers. An FAA Level 3 Award (QCF) in First Aid at Work valid for 3 years will be issued to the student, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required for this course.


Up to 12 students can be accomodated on the  requalification course at any one time. However, all students must be at least 16 years of age and produce their existing First Aid certificate.
